Privacy Policy
1. Who we are
The Growth Council ("the Council", "we", "us") is an independent professional council of marketing and growth leaders, operated by [Legal entity name]. We are not owned by, affiliated with, or funded by any advertising network, agency holding company or media platform. This policy explains what personal information we collect through growthcouncil.net and our council dinners, and how we use it.
2. What we collect
- What you send us. When you use our contact form: your name, work email, company, title, nearest city, your reason for reaching out and your message.
- Membership and dinner details. If you are seated or attend a dinner: your attendance, seating, and any dietary or accessibility needs you choose to share.
- Sponsor contacts. Business contact details of the people we work with at sponsoring companies.
- Technical data. Standard information your browser sends when you visit the site, such as IP address, browser type and pages viewed, kept in server logs for security and reliability.
We do not ask for sensitive personal information, and we ask that you do not include it in messages to us.
3. How we use it
- To reply to your message and review requests for a seat.
- To run council dinners: invitations, seating, catering and logistics.
- To send members council communications, including session minutes.
- To keep the site secure and working.
- To meet legal obligations.
We do not sell your personal information, and we do not use it for advertising.
4. What is said at the table
Council dinners run under the Chatham House rule. Published minutes report what was discussed without identifying the speaker, their company or their brand. We do not record dinners, and we do not attribute remarks to anyone without that person's written consent.
5. Sponsors
Council dinners are supported by a limited number of corporate sponsors. Sponsors do not receive your contact details, and they do not get access to the minutes before publication. With your permission, a sponsor hosting a dinner you attend may receive your name, title and company. You can decline, and declining does not affect your seat.
6. Who we share it with
We share personal information only with service providers who help us run the Council, such as website hosting, email and event venues. They act on our instructions and may not use your information for their own purposes. We may also disclose information when the law requires it, or as part of a merger or sale of the Council, in which case this policy continues to apply.
7. How long we keep it
We keep contact form messages for up to [24 months] after our last exchange, and member records for as long as you hold a seat plus [24 months]. Server logs are kept for up to [90 days]. We then delete or anonymize the information.
8. Cookies
We use only the cookies the site needs to work. We do not use advertising cookies or cross-site tracking. If that changes, we will update this policy and ask for consent where the law requires it.
9. Your rights
Depending on where you live, including California, the UK and the EU, you may have the right to access, correct, delete or receive a copy of your personal information, to object to or restrict how we use it, and to withdraw consent. Email council@growthcouncil.net to make a request. We will reply within 30 days and will not treat you differently for exercising your rights. UK and EU residents may also complain to their local data protection authority.
10. International transfers
The Council operates in the United States and the United Kingdom. When we move personal information between countries, we use safeguards recognized by law, such as standard contractual clauses.
11. Security
We protect personal information with reasonable technical and organizational measures, including encryption in transit and access limited to the people who need it. No system is perfectly secure. If a breach affects you, we will tell you as the law requires.
12. Children
The Council is for working professionals. We do not knowingly collect information from anyone under 18.
13. Changes
When we update this policy, we change the date at the top. For material changes, we notify members by email.
